Overview and Philosophy
Since our inception in 1970, Carter/MacKay has serviced sales, sales management and marketing positions within the pharmaceutical industry. The organization initially employed one Account Executive working in our original office in Great Neck, NY who was exclusive to the pharmaceutical marketplace and primarily handled positions based within the New York Metropolitan area. Over the subsequent years, we have expanded to four offices and grown this division to a point where we minimally maintain a staff of eighteen Account Executives and four researchers. Due to this expansion, our geographic area of expertise now encompasses the entire United States and is supervised by two Divisional Managers. This team's sole focus is the pharmaceutical and biotechnology market sectors. We firmly believe that no single Account Executive can handle an extensive geography in depth and effectively locate the best talent for his or her clients. By focusing on controlled territories, each AE is firmly entrenched in a limited market and highly capable of locating superior candidates to respond to each client's recruiting needs.
Capabilities and Standards
Unlike many smaller search firms with a more limited staff, Carter/MacKay maintains a suitable amount of AE's, researchers and administrators to competently handle a client's staffing needs whether it is a small expansion or a major rollout of a new field organization. Additionally, our firm is centrally owned and managed with all employees working directly for Carter/MacKay. This enables us to maintain a very high level of quality control through an extremely well developed training program, both for new additions to our staff as well as continuing education for our senior staff. Many national recruiting firms are either part of an independent network or franchised with limited, if any, ability to guarantee and maintain high standards. Due to our organizational structure, this is a non-issue with Carter/MacKay.
Strategies
Within our organization, recruiting and consulting go hand in hand. Due to the fact that we are a highly specialized recruiting firm, we not only supply client companies with the highest caliber talent for their staffing needs, but also offer consulting capabilities. We have offered assistance to many clients with respect to: design of compensation plans, implementation of employee retention programs, expansion analysis and interviewing/hiring methodologies. With a team of seasoned Account Executives and Divisional Managers that are industry specific, we have built a database of extremely useful information. More importantly, we have been able to determine which strategies utilized by our clientele yield the greatest return on investment.
Implementation
Upon execution of an agreement, a staff conference is scheduled with the relevant members of the team. At this point the client company, products, position descriptions and qualifications are reviewed. A game plan is initiated and a target date established for completion of the project. As a means of simplifying and expediting the process, a point person (usually a member of the management team) is chosen as a liaison between our firm and the client. Carter/MacKay will not commit to a project, regardless of the size and scope, unless positive that we can execute in accordance with the client's expectations. Once committed, we will dedicate the resources necessary to ensure complete satisfaction with our services.
